How many times do you end up reading backgammon books?

I end up reading mine multiple times and feel like the third time through is when things start to really click.

In general, I find backgammon themes/ideas soft and nebulous and I miss a bunch of nuance on the first pass. Only after multiple exposures am I able to 1) know what themes/features I should be looking for and 2) begin to start actually seeing them over the board.

I was curious if anyone is capable of internalizing ideas upon a first read :slightly_smiling_face:

Three times sounds about right to me, to fully internalize it. After the first exposure to an idea, you can experiment with it, and probably misapply it, or just forget it, and then go back to the text and refine. I’ve read some books twice, but if one has the discipline, I support thrice!
